Weight Loss and Hormones: What is the connection?

I find teenagers very interesting. Not only do they think they are invincible, but they think that they are immortal. They look at those of us that are over 20 as if we are lazy and they look at our bodies and roll their eyes and groan, mumbling that they will never look like that! Little do they realize that the bodies they have in high school will quickly change over the next few years. Then we will see what they have to say.

That brings me to the point of this discussion. As we age our hormone levels decline as well as our health. Our hormonal balance is a lot like a musical composition. When it is in perfect balance it is pleasant and peaceful and everything makes sense. But when there is one vital “instrument” off it is only noise and it becomes annoying.  We see when our hormones and our bodies are balanced we feel great, but when that balance is off we feel off.

Hormones imbalance begins at any age, but really becomes prominent for men around 30 and women will start having hormonal changes 10-15 years before missing a menstrual cycle. So how is anyone to know if their hormones are imbalanced? There are many subtle changes that can take place but one obvious sign is a change in our body shape. As estrogen begins to dominate the picture, men will start getting that pot belly and women start adding the inches to the abdomen, hips and thighs.

It is important in weight loss to ensure that the hormones are balanced between estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid and adrenals to ensure that any weight that is lost will remain in its secret hiding place. However, the unfortunate thing in weight loss is that so much of that weight can bounce back on and even more….UNLESS HORMONES ARE BALANCED….

Balancing hormones doesn’t mean that we want to make every one look 20 again, even though those were the good ole days. We balance them to when we were really productive; say late 20’s and 30s. We could conquer the world at that point and then by 35 we started feeling heavy, tired, and sluggish and in a state of discontent with how life was progressing.

We no longer have to settle for life being that way, or our bodies being something we hide from the mirror. Simply starting a hormonal balance program may be all that is needed to get back that zest for life and start on the path of great health and a great, not perfect, just great body once again. So if you are curious, give us a call and find out how life can be. It is your choice, so choose.

Thanks for listening and have a great day

Hormones: Do men have them too?

As testosterone declines, the overall quality of life begins to fade as well. Now, just because it is in the “Normal” range doesn’t mean it is optimal for maintaining health. It only means that you fit in the range that 95 percent of the other men fit and have the same feelings.

Thyroid: I was told my labs were normal, but I feel bad!

Well just because one test namely TSH is normal doesn’t mean that the thyroid is functioning optimally.  In fact most labs are based on a “normal” range that simply means that is where 95 percent of the population is: between one number and the next.
